The Southeast Georgia Health System Auxiliaries recently announced Elena
"Lea" Taylor as the Brunswick Campus Volunteer of the Quarter
and Pearl Sophia Stephen as the Camden Campus Volunteer of the Quarter
during their respective quarterly Auxiliary luncheons.
A retired teacher, Lea Taylor has been a member of the Brunswick Campus
Auxiliary for more than 18 years. She currently volunteers in the Emergency
Care Center.
"Lea is one of our long-term, valued volunteers," says Kristin
Doll, director of Volunteer Services. "She consistently serves others
with a gentle smile and great compassion."
A Brunswick resident, Taylor previously volunteered for the American Red
Cross. When not volunteering, she enjoys biking, walking, fishing, traveling
and square dancing.
"I volunteer because I really enjoy helping people," says Taylor.
"I taught for 31 years before I retired, and my goal is to reach
31 years as a volunteer!"
A Kingsland resident and member of the Auxiliary for just over a year,
Pearl Sophia Stephen volunteers in the Camden Campus Gift Shop.
"Pearl’s big smile and helpful attitude are just two of her
wonderful attributes that our Gift Shop customers experience," says
Kristin Doll, director, Volunteer Services. "She always offers her
assistance and suggestions to help customers find something special."
Stephen also volunteers with the Biology Club at the Camden Campus of College
of Coastal Georgia. Her hobbies include reading, being outdoors, and cooking
for company.
"I love volunteering in the Gift Shop," says Stephen. "I
have been in retail since I was 16 years old, and love to help customers
find something special. It’s all about making the customer happy!"
More than 300 volunteers currently enjoy sharing their time and talents
to assist patients, visitors, and team members at the Southeast Georgia
Health System Brunswick and Camden campuses, as well as the Senior Care
Centers in Brunswick and St. Marys. To find out more about volunteer opportunities,
