Southeast Georgia Health System is pleased to welcome Shontae Buffington,
M.D. and Samantha R. Meeks, ANP-BC, to the medical staff of the Community
Care Center, a strategic affiliate of the Health System.
The Community Care Center has been providing pediatric and adolescent primary
care for the Medicaid residents of Coastal Georgia for years. Now, with
the addition of Meeks, a nurse practitioner with more than 17 years of
experience, the Center offers health care services for adults as well.
A board-certified pediatrician, Buffington earned her medical degree from
Howard University College of Medicine in Washington D.C., and completed
her pediatric internship and residency at the University of California,
Davis, in Sacramento, Calif. She has a bachelor’s degree in human
biology from Stanford University in, Palo Alto, Calif. Previously, Buffington
was a physician at the Spring Hill location of Centennial Pediatrics,
Nashville, Tenn., and at the Primary Care Network at UC Davis Medical
Center, in Folsom, Calif.
A board-certified family nurse practitioner, Meeks earned her master’s
in nursing from Indiana University, Indianapolis, and completed her adult
nurse practitioner training at Northern Kentucky University. She has a
bachelor’s degree in nursing from Indiana University, Richmond.
Previously, she owned Samantha Meeks Family Practice in New Castle, Ind.,
and Deer Run Pavilion, a mobile medical practice that served the Army
National Guard.
Pediatric services provided at the Community Care Center include well-child
care exams, newborn care, school and sports physicals, vision screenings,
immunizations, nutrition guidance, sick-child diagnosis and treatment,
and the diagnosis and treatment of attention deficit disorder and attention
deficit hyperactivity disorder. Adult services include primary care, minor
illness or injury care, blood work, preventive care, and disease management
ranging from hypertension to diabetes to thyroid conditions. The Community
Care Center health care providers prescribe medications, complete tests,
interpret lab and diagnostic results, plan an individualized course of
action for each patient, and make referrals to appropriate specialists
when needed.
The Community Care Center is located at 3300 Fourth Street in Brunswick.
