Health System Pretty in Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Pink ribbons, pink flags, Pink Out Friday. Southeast GeorgiaHealth System
is pretty in pink this October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness
Month. In addition, a variety of community activities and fundraisers
are planned.
Throughout the month of October the Health System will be decorated for
Breast Cancer Awareness Month with large pink ribbons in the lobbies of
the Brunswickand Camdencampuses and the Senior Care Centers; pink flags
will be hung from lamp posts; and the front entrance fountains will bubble
pink.Nursing teams will wear pink gloves, surgical teams will wear pink
surgical caps, and the cafeterias will serve pink desserts.
The ARTrageous Bras exhibit will be on display at the Brunswickand Camdencampuses
from Oct. 1 - 22. This fundraising event includes an opportunity for the
community to cast $1 votes for their favorite uniquely decorated bras.
The ARTrageous Bras silent and live auctions will be held on Oct. 24 from
5:30to 7 p.m.at the OutpatientCareCenterArtGalleryon the Brunswick Campus.
Light hors d’oeuvres will be served. Proceeds from the event benefit
the Health System breast care programs.
Another Health System fundraiser open to the community is the pink paper
“Ribbons of Hope.” Individuals can purchase a pink ribbon
in honor or memory of a loved one affected by breast cancer for $1. The
goal is to decorate hallways throughout the Brunswickand Camdenhospitals.
Similar to the ARTrageous Bras, proceeds from the sales benefit the breast
care programs.
The fanciful Julie Grimm Quilt created from Susan G. Komen Race for the
Cure and American Cancer Society Relay For Life official T-shirts will
be displayed in the Camden Campus lobby Oct. 1 to Oct. 11 and then transferred
for display on the Brunswick Campus Oct. 12 to Oct. 31.
A new Health System breast cancer awareness activity this year is the
“Pink Friday Games.” Health System team members will provide
breast cancer awareness materials at the October home games for Brunswick
High School, Brantley County High School, College of Coastal Georgia,
Frederica Academy, Glynn Academy, and McIntosh County Academy. These include
a pink ribbon image on the field, pink shoelaces for players and pink
poms for cheerleaders. The Health System athletic trainers will wear pink
polo shirts.

The community is invited to join the Health System in wearing pink on
Pink Out Friday in support of all the women, and men, who have been diagnosed
with breast cancer. Photos can be uploaded to sghs.org/pink and will be
posted to the Health System website and facebook page.

Make Breast Care a Routine for Life”
:
Patients receiving mammogramsduring October will receive a breast cancer
awareness gift that includes a cup, calendar, nail file and breast self-exam card.
Breast Care Quiz Give-away: Patients and team members who complete the breast health quiz will be entered
in a drawing to win one of four gift bags at the end of the month. Gift
bags will be on display in the BreastCareCenter, the Camden Campus Mammography
department and the MedicalPlazamammography location. A photo of the gift
basket will be on display on the WOW and at the table for Ribbons of Hope
sales and ARTrageous votes.
YMCA Goes Pink: The local YMCA will decorate their facility in pink and display breast
cancer awareness information. Educational materials will be provided by
Southeast Georgia Health System and Susan G. Komen Coastal Georgia Affiliate.
