The annual ARTrageous Bras fundraiser at Southeast Georgia Health System
is truly ourtrageous this year with competition and voting at a feverish
pitch. With more than 50 uniquely decorated bras, including an entry signed
by Adam Wainwright, starting pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, the
ARTrageous Bras live and silent auctions promise to be a lively, uplifting
experience.
The event, which is open to the community, takes place on Thursday, Oct.
24, 5:30-7 p.m., at the Outpatient Care Center Art Gallery, 2500 Starling
Street, in Brunswick. Proceeds from the live and silent auctions benefit
the Health System breast care programs.
“This year, for the first time, viewing and voting is available online
through sghs.org, resulting in daily ranking changes,” says Krista
Robitz, director of Development, Southeast Georgia Health System Foundation.
“Sometimes the difference between bras four, five or six positions
apart in rankings may only be 3, 5 or 10 votes; so, a bra not currently
in the top ten could easily be with the investment of just a few dollars!”
The ARTrageous Bras entries, created by local businesses and individuals,
have been on display at the Brunswick and Camden campuses since Oct. 1.
The first stage of the fundraiser includes collecting votes, at $1 each,
from Oct. 1-22, to determine the top 10 bras. The fundraiser culminates
on Oct. 24 with the ARTrageous Bras reception and live auction fashion
show, consisting of the top 10 bras, and the silent auction for the remaining bras.
“The event is a really fun way to increase breast cancer awareness
and raise funds for the Health System’s breast care programs,”
adds Robitz. “We hope that everyone will take time to visit the
displays and attend the auctions on Oct. 24.”
