Alecia Wright and Casey Coleman of Brunswick welcomed the newest addition
to their family, Kayce Kelis Coleman on January 1, 2013. Baby girl Kayce
arrived at 4:44 a.m. on New Year’s Day at the Southeast Georgia
Health System Miriam & Hugh Nunnally Maternity Care Center in Brunswick
as Glynn County’s first baby of 2013. Little Kayce was delivered by
board-certified
obstetrician and gynecologist Shirley Wilson, M.D., and weighed in at
5 lbs., 3 oz., and measured 18-1/2 inches long. She is the couple’s
first child. Her proud grandmother, Linda Wright, of Brunswick, was also present.
Kayce was one of three baby girls born on New Years Day at the Miriam &
Hugh Nunnally Maternity Care Center. According to the new mother, she
arrived at the Center with mild labor pains shortly after 4 p.m. on New
Year’s Eve, and she was surprised that Kayce was the first baby
of the year. “She was due on January 4 so I didn’t expect
to have her on New Years Day,” she said, smiling. “The nurse
told us she was the first baby of the year right after she was born.”
Each year, more than 1,500 babies are born at the Miriam & Hugh Nunnally
Maternity Care Center, which was completely renovated and expanded in 2010.
To welcome Kayce, the Health System presented the happy parents with a
large gift basket full of gifts and baby care necessities from the Southeast
Georgia Health System Brunswick Campus Gift Shop.
The family also received a newborn gift bag from the March of Dimes. In
celebration of its 75th anniversary, the March of Dimes provided newborn
gift bags to the first baby born at hospitals across the state of Georgia.
