The Southeast Georgia Health System Camden Campus Auxiliary presented awards
to two of its members during the annual holiday dinner on Monday, Dec.
9, at Laurel Island Links in Kingsland, Ga.
Betty Howard, a volunteer in the Gift Shop and at the Guest Services desk,
was presented with a Lifetime Membership. She began volunteering more
than 50 years ago, when the Health System Camden Campus was the Gilman Hospital.
"I’ve loved every minute of it, volunteering first at Gilman
Hospital and then continuing through to Southeast Georgia Health System,"
said Howard.
An active member of St. Marys United Methodist Church, Howard also enjoys
reading, making crafts and volunteering her time. She is a member of Kingsland
Chapter 496 Order of Eastern Star and Port City Court #24 Order of Amaranth.
A resident of St. Marys, she has two children, four grandchildren and
four great grandchildren.
"Betty’s devotion as an Auxiliary volunteer for more than 50
years is remarkable," said Kristin Doll, director, Volunteer Services.
"Her enthusiasm for volunteering and her dedication to caring for
our patients and guests is phenomenal. We are pleased to honor her with
this award."
The second award, Volunteer of the Quarter, was presented to Pat Hazouri.
A Health System volunteer since 1995, she creates the flower arrangements
available for purchase by visitors and team members, and also volunteers
in the Camden Campus Gift Shop.
"Volunteering is very rewarding," said Hazouri. "I love
to arrange the flowers so people can enjoy them."
Hazouri and her husband, Bob, live in Kingsland, Ga. They have three children
and seven grandchildren. In addition to volunteering, she enjoys painting,
gardening, shopping, traveling, spending time with family, and preparing
meals for friends and family.
"Over the years, Pat has lovingly created floral arrangements to mark
many occasions in the lives of our patients, guests and team members,"
said Doll. "Each arrangement is special because of Pat’s attention
to detail. Her joy in creating them is evident."
More than 300 volunteers currently enjoy sharing their time and talents
to assist patients, visitors, and team members at the Southeast Georgia
Health System Brunswick and Camden campuses, as well as the Senior Care
