More than 200 team members at the Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick
and Camden campuses are starring in their own Pink Glove Dance video to
promote breast cancer awareness and prevention. The video was submitted
to a national competition to determine the best Pink Glove Dance video of 2012.
The Southeast Georgia Health System video will be posted on
www.pinkglovedance.com on Oct. 12. Viewers can vote for their favorite video (voting requires
a Facebook® account) and the top three winners will receive a donation
in their name to the breast cancer charity of their choice, such as the
Coastal Georgia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure©. The winners
will be announced Nov. 2 on pinkglovedance.com.
The second annual competition is sponsored by Medline Industries, Inc.,
manufacturer of the gloves and producer of the original Pink Glove Dance video.
“Once we saw the videos from last year’s competition, we immediately
wanted to create one of our own to help raise awareness about breast cancer
and the importance of breast health,” says DelRia Baisden, vice
president at Southeast Georgia Health System. “Our team members
are very excited to be participating in our own Pink Glove Dance.”
The song used in the Southeast Georgia Health System video was “Part
of Me” by Katy Perry. An interesting side note is that the artist
gave permission to use this song specifically for the Pink Glove Dance
competition. The video filming and creation was completed by Final Cut
Productions, a Brunswick filming operation owned by Michael Heiser.
“We had a lot of fun creating the video, but our main motivator was
to build awareness about breast cancer,” adds Baisden. “Michael
and his team from Final Cut Productions did an excellent job interpreting
what we wanted and we are very appreciative of the time and creativity
they generously contributed in preparing the video.”
“We’re hoping our community will watch the Pink Glove videos,
vote for our entry, and share it with their friends,” says Baisden.
The original Pink Glove Dance video premiered in November 2009 and featured
Portland, Ore. hospital workers wearing Medline’s pink gloves and
dancing in support of breast cancer awareness and prevention. Today, the
video has more than 13.5 million views on YouTube® and has inspired
hundreds of pink glove dance videos and breast cancer awareness events.
