any people don’t keep track of their medications as well as they
should; so, if they become ill or need a medical/surgical procedure performed,
they’re not in a good position to advise their physicians on what
drugs they are taking. This can have severe, negative consequences. To
help combat this problem, Southeast Georgia Health System invites the
community to attend a Brown Bag Medication Review event on Friday, Oct.
12, 1-4 p.m. at the Brunswick Multi-purpose Center for the Elderly, 2007
I Street in Brunswick. During the Brown Bag Medication Review, attendees
bring all of their prescription medicines, over-the-counter medications,
herbal supplements and vitamins in a brown paper bag to learn about their
common uses, side-effects and potentially harmful interactions with other
medications. A pharmacist or pharmacy student will be on hand to provide
a free one-on-one consultation, prepare a current list of medications,
and answer questions about the safe and effective use of medications.
The event is open to the public, but limited to 120 people. For more information,
please contact Darlene Wymes or Joyce Mitchell at the Brunswick Multi-purpose
Center for the Elderly at 912-267-5520.
