Health System Breast Patient Navigator Achieves National Designation
Southeast Georgia Health System is proud to announce Donna Perkins, R.N.,
CBPN-IC, breast patient navigator for the Breast Care Center, recently
received the prestigious designation of Certified Breast Patient Navigator
from the National Consortium of Breast Centers (NCBC). “Donna is
committed to providing exceptional patient care in a compassionate manner,”
says DelRia Baisden, vice present, Southeast Georgia Health System. “We’re
very proud of Donna’s accomplishment This certification is a testament
of her knowledge and skills in navigating breast patients through their
continuum of care.” Moving a patient through the continuum of breast
care is a complex and highly individualized process. The stress associated
with the cancer diagnosis can be significantly eased with the assistance
of an individual who is trained to personally guide a patient through
the care process. As a certified breast patient navigator, Perkins will
work to ensure the patient receives timely exam results, diagnosis and
treatment, eliminate barriers to care, assist with follow-up appointments
and provide each patient the support needed through the various stages
of care. The NCBC promotes excellence in breast health through advanced
education and a network of diverse professionals dedicated to the active
exchange of ideas and resources. Certifications reflect an individual’s
achievement beyond licensure requirements and a basic level of knowledge.

enhanced care and services for patients through advanced competency.
