BRUNSWICK, Georgia: March 9, 2012 – Southeast Georgia Physician Associates-Pulmonary
Medicine, a strategic affiliate of Southeast Georgia Health System, is
pleased to welcome pulmonologist Kevin M. Fussell, M.D., to the practice.
Fussell graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology from
Mercer University in Macon, Ga., before going on to graduate magna cum
laude with his medic al degree from the Medical College of Georgia in
Augusta. He completed his internal medicine residency and pulmonary/critical
care fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville,
Tenn., where he served as a Hugh J. Morgan Chief Resident.
Fussell serves as chairman of the Board of Directors of World Water Relief,
an Atlanta based nonprofit organization with the mission of bringing sustainable
clean water solutions to the underserved populations of Haiti and the
Dominican Republic. He was also cofounder of the nonprofit organization
Hands of Hope, which aims to provide medical care to Haitian refugees
living in the sugar cane fields in the southwest Dominican Republic. In
his work with these two organizations, Fussell has made 15 trips to the
island of Hispaniola since 2006. He also served in the disaster relief
effort in Port au Prince, Haiti after the January 2012 earthquake.
Since leaving Vanderbilt in 2004, Fussell has been a partner at Salem Chest
Specialists, nine-man pulmonary/critical care group in Winston-Salem servicing
the 850-bed hospital, Forsyth Medical Center. While with Salem Chest,
he also served as a clinical instructor for the Physician Assistant Program
at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
Fussell joins fellow pulmonologists Stephen Chitty, M.D., Herman Levy,
M.D., C. David Sudduth, M.D. and nurse practitioner Vivian Allen, APRN-BC.
Southeast Georgia Physician Associates – Pulmonary Medicine is located
