Health System Selects Kay Page as 'Star of the Year'

BRUNSWICK, Georgia: June 19, 2012– Kay Page, accounts payable supervisor in the Finance/Accounting Department at Southeast Georgia Health System, was presented with the 2011 Star of the Year Award by Gary R. Colberg, FACHE, president and CEO, at the Celebration of the Stars dinner held on Monday, June 18, in the Delegal Room of the King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort on St. Simons Island. Also in attendance and providing closing remarks was Carl Alexander, chair of the Glynn-Brunswick Memorial Hospital Authority. He acknowledged the contributions of each Star of the Quarter and the Star of the Year. “The consistent and extraordinary level of compassion and genuine caring demonstrated by each of you exemplifies the Health System’s commitment to be the health care provider of choice to the communities we serve,” said Alexander. “The volume of compliments and letters of appreciation the Authority receives attest to the number of star employees at our Health System. I am very proud of this organization and the team work and friendliness exhibited by everyone.” The Health System launched the Star of the Quarter program in 2010 as part of the organization’s initiative to recognize team members who exceed expectations. Stars of the Quarter are nominated by their fellow team members for demonstrating one or more of the following service excellence standards: accountability, compassion, dedication, empowerment, initiative, ownership and teamwork in their interactions with patients, visitors and/or fellow team members. From among the Stars of the Quarter, Page was chosen to receive the Star of the Year honor. “Kay is the backbone of our department,” says Lisa A. Morgan, director, Finance & Materials Management. “She consistently performs well beyond what is expected and takes a tremendous amount of pride in her work. Kay has done an extraordinary job of adapting and keeping up with the tremendous growth of the Health System. I thank my lucky stars that Kay is on my team.” In addition to Page, the 2011 Stars of the Quarter considered for the annual award included: • Peggy Tuten, R.N., FNP, CDE, Coastal Medical Access Project (CMAP), Brunswick Campus; • Susan Willis, Medical Records, Brunswick Campus; • Julia Jacobs, M.T., Laboratory, Camden Campus; • Claudia Marble, R.T.(MR)(CT), Radiology, Brunswick Campus; • Starr Whitaker, Rehabilitation Care Center, Camden Campus; • Kim Bartlett, R.T.(R), Imaging, Camden Campus. “We are very proud of all our nominees for their dedication to upholding our service excellence standards,” said Gary R. Colberg, FACHE, president and CEO. “Each of you are shining examples of everything a team member should be and the importance you place on exceeding expectations is what makes our Health System a great organization.” Page, a resident of Woodbine, joined the Health System in 1985. She is a native of Camden County and graduated from Camden County High School. Page is an active member of First Baptist Church of Woodbine where she serves as choir director and plays the organ. She is the daughter of William Walls of Woodbine, a former long-time member of the Health System’s Camden Campus Advisory Board and the late Jackie Walls. She and her husband, Chris, have two children, Lindsey and Logan. Also in attendance to were Carla Yarbrough, vice-chair, and Vance Hughes from the Glynn-Brunswick Memorial Hospital Authority, as well as Rose Andrews, chair, Steve E. Rawl Sr. from the Camden Campus Advisory Board. Many Health System team members and friends were in attendance, including William Walls, retired Advisory Board member.
