Gary R. Colberg, FACHE, president & CEO, Southeast Georgia Health System,
was recently appointed associate adjunct professor for the Department
of Family Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Health
Sciences University. “We are very pleased to appoint Mr. Colberg
as an Associate Adjunct Professor with our Department of Family Medicine,”
says Peter F. Buckley, M.D., Dean of the Medical College of Georgia at
Georgia Health Sciences University. “His leadership in health care
reflects his extraordinary commitment to the health of the citizens of
our state and region and is in true alignment with the mission of the
Medical College of Georgia to educate the next generation of physicians.
He has been invaluable in ensuring the success of our Southeast Georgia
Clinical Campus and his enthusiasm for it is unwavering.” In 2011,
Colberg received an adjunct professor appointment with the Master of Healthcare
Administration (MHA) Program at the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health
at Georgia Southern University. He was also named CEO of the Year by the
Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals, and presented with the inaugural
Men of Distinction Award by the Brunswick Chapter of The Links, Inc. Colberg
was appointed to the Institute of Health Administration Advisory Board
at Georgia State University in 2007. Before taking the helm of the Health
System more than 10 years ago, Colberg amassed 35 years of experience
in health care leadership, including positions as senior vice president
for Birmingham Operations for Medical Center East-Eastern Health System
Inc. and as a vice president with Jewish Hospital HealthCare Services
in Louisville, Kentucky. He earned a bachelor's degree from Lycoming
College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and a Master of Community Health
Administration from Vermont College of Norwich University in Montpelier,
Vermont. He is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Colberg is a member of the Glynn County Rotary Club, the College of Coastal
Georgia Foundation Board, Coastal Bank of Georgia's Board of Directors,
the Coastal Georgia Regional Healthcare Network Board, the Georgia Hospital
Association Board, the Voluntary Hospitals of America-Georgia Chapter
Board of Directors and the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals.
