ST. MARYS, Georgia: Jan. 2, 2012 – Lakeisha Robinson and Carlos Johnson
of St. Marys welcome the newest addition to their family, Carlos Johnson
Jr. He arrived at 7:13 p.m. on New Year’s Day at the Southeast Georgia
Health System Camden Campus Maternity Care Center in St. Marys as Camden
County’s first baby of 2012. He was delivered by obstetrician/gynecologist
Brenda Watson, M.D., weighed in at 6 lbs., 7 oz., and measured 18 inches
long. He is the couple’s first child. The proud grandmother is Melba
Ferrell, also of St. Marys.
Each year, more than 700 babies are born at the Camden Campus Maternity
Care Center, which features state-of-the-art medical care in a warm, family-friendly
environment. While the new mother was surprised little Carlos Jr. was
the first baby of the year, Julia Van Pelt, R.N., says she has waited
nine years for this event. “I’ve worked New Year’s Eve
for the last nine years hoping to help deliver the first baby of the year
and it finally happened!” Van Pelt says. The other nurses assisting
with the emergency C-section were Delaney Johns, R.N., and Melissa Alsip, R.N.
To welcome Carlos Jr., the Health System presented the happy parents with
a large gift basket full of gifts and baby care necessities from the Southeast
Georgia Health System Camden Campus Gift Shop. Pictured are the new parents
with their little bundle of joy.
