ST. MARYS, Georgia: The Computed Tomography (CT) Department at the Southeast
Georgia Health System Camden Campus in St. Marys was awarded a three-year
term of accreditation as the result of a recent survey by the American
College of Radiology (ACR).
The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high
practice standards after a peer-review of the practice. Evaluations are
conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are
experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel
and the adequacy of facility equipment along with the quality of images taken.
“This accreditation was made possible by the hard work and dedication
of our team, especially Sheila Mace, RT(R) and Dana Bellisle, RT(R)(CT),
who were in charge of this accreditation project,” said Timothy
P. Bryant, MBA, RT(R)(N), manager, Radiology and Cardio-Pulmonary Services,
Camden Campus. “Having this accreditation provides our patients
and referring physicians with a high level of confidence in our services
and assures them we offer only the highest quality of care.”
The CT Department joins the Nuclear Medicine and Mammography departments
at the Camden Campus that have attained ACR accreditation. The ACR is
a national organization in partnership with the FDA providing accreditation
that demonstrates a facility's commitment to quality patient care.
The ACR provides accreditation programs for mammography, MRI, ultrasound,
nuclear medicine, PET, CT and radiation oncology.
