BRUNSWICK, Georgia: March 17, 2011 – Each February, cardiac rehabilitation
patients who have participated five years in the Southeast Georgia Health
System Cardiac Rehabilitation Program are honored with a special brunch
and join the Five Year Club. Cardiac Rehabilitation is a three-phase rehabilitation
program that is individualized to meet the specific needs and abilities
of each participant. The program’s goals are to enable cardiac patients
to return to a normal lifestyle and reduce the likelihood of a recurrent
cardiac illness.
This year’s event was held Friday, Feb. 18, in the Linda S. Pinson
Conference Center on the Brunswick Campus. Cardiologist Marsha Certain,
M.D., FACC, FACP, FSCIA, was the keynote speaker and 17 five-year program
participants, 12 ten-year program participants, two 15-year program participants
and one 20-year program participant were honored. Pictured are the honorees
who attended along with the Cardiac Rehab team. This year’s honorees
are: five year honorees—Arbie Booth, Marie Cooper, Penny Cooper,
Anna Dooley, June Duncan, Bruce Freitas, Quida Fry, Peggy Goodwin, Claude
Gunnin, Christine Holland, Carol Johnson, Martha Jones, Wolf Kuebler,
William Maxwell, Neelene Paulk, Barbara Shandron and Ruby Williams; 10-year
honorees—Adeline Cash, Robert Elliot, Julian Flexer, Cathy Hardy,
Mada Heins, Ethel Horton, Harry King, Glenn Landen, John McMillian, Bonnie
Scholze, Ken Thompson and Juna Todd; 15-year honorees—Donal Brunegraff
and Bill Kittles; and 20-year honoree—Gearldean Davis. For more
