BRUNSWICK, Georgia: June 21, 2011 – Southeast Georgia Health System
is pleased to welcome two new members to the leadership team: Troy Thurmond,
R.N., BSN, director, Surgical Services, and Greg Brown, R.N., house manager,
Brunswick Campus.
Thurmond is now responsible for the surgical services operations at both
campuses. He comes to the Health System from Jacksonville, Florida, where
he was the operating room manager at St. Vincent’s Medical Center.
He managed the robotic team program and oversaw a staff of 60 registered
nurses and 75 surgical technicians. He completed his Bachelor’s
degree in nursing at Valdosta State University and also holds a Bachelor’s
degree in education from Southern Illinois University.
Brown earned his Associate’s degree in nursing from South Georgia
College. He is also a registered paramedic with the state of Georgia.
His wealth of experience includes working as a staff nurse in the Intensive
Care Unit, trauma and emergency settings and serving as the director of
Clinch County Emergency Medical Services. Brown’s past positions
include working as a trauma nurse at Tallahassee Regional Trauma Center
in Tallahassee, Florida, house supervisor then emergency room nurse manager
at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup and as a flight nurse with Lifestar
out of Springfield and Vidalia, Georgia.
