Health System, Altamaha Tech Send Community Donations for Tornado Victims
BRUNSWICK, Georgia: June 24, 2011 – Members of the Golden Isles and
Camden County communities recently came together to donate a large number
of supplies that were sent to tornado victims in Alabama. Southeast Georgia
Health System provided the drop-off point for the donations. Chad Robbins
from Mountain 2 Sea Ministries, Health System team members Susan Bates,
Allison Nermoe and Elaine Rankin, as well as Brunswick Campus Auxiliary
volunteer Ertise Stevens, sorted and packed eight large pallets of items
ranging from baby supplies, to bottled water donated by Friendly Express
and a pallet of Brawny paper towels donated by GP Cellulose. Because of
the overwhelming response to the Health System’s appeal for donations,
an 18-wheeler was needed to transport the items. Lorette Hoover, president
of Altamaha Technical College, provided the truck and two driving instructors;
Rickey Morey and Fallon Weyent, to deliver the shipment to Northport,
Ala. Community volunteers Brad Hummel, Graham Hummel, Dade Brantley, Jeff
Montaigne, Phillip Sheffield and Patrick Sheffield loaded the supplies.
