BRUNSWICK, Georgia: Sept. 24, 2010– Air Evac Lifeteam, an independently
owned air ambulance provider, has opened a base location in Brunswick
adjacent to the Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick Campus. Air
Evac Lifeteam provides on-the-scene medical care and rapid transport to
medical facilities.
“The main advantage of having Air Evac available for our patients
is that it decreases the time it takes to get a patient to definitive
care,” says Jennifer Adair, M.D., a physician at the Brunswick Campus
Emergency Care Center. Adair adds that before the arrival of Air Evac,
Emergency Care Center staff had to make phone calls to find out what facilities
were available to take a patient in need of trauma services or more advanced
care, and then to locate an available helicopter. Once a helicopter was
located, they had to await its arrival from another location. Having the
service on-site has eliminated those steps. “Having a helicopter
here probably cuts down an hour or more of wait time,” Adair says.
The base will provide employment for 12 to 15 individuals and serve communities
within a 70-mile radius of Brunswick. An Air Evac Lifeteam crew, which
includes a registered nurse, paramedic and pilot, is on call at each base
24 hours a day, seven days a week. For more information about Air Evac
Lifeteam services, call 1-800-793-0010 or visit www.lifeteam.net.
