BRUNSWICK, Georgia: Oct. 12, 2010– The Brunswick Campus Auxiliary
presented the Health System with a check for $100,000 during the group's
quarterly meeting and luncheon held Thursday, Sept. 2, in the Linda S.
Pinson Conference Center. The money will be used to purchase a state-of-the-art
simulation mannequin. This type of training mannequin, which can be programmed
to simulate any medical emergency imaginable, from cardiac arrest to traumatic
injuries, reacts like a real patient—from having vital signs, to
perspiring and bleeding, to crying out in pain.
“We are so grateful to the Auxiliary for making this donation,”
says Health System President & CEO Gary R. Colberg, FACHE. “Having
this mannequin will allow our team members to practice and hone their
skills without any risk to patients and will enable us to continue to
provide the best, safest health care available.”
Following lunch and a presentation about the simulation mannequin, the
Auxiliary honored volunteer Faye Owens as the Volunteer of the Quarter.
Owens volunteers in the Gift Shop and Cancer Care Center and is a member
of the Eastern Star and Lakeside Methodist Church. She and her husband
have three daughters and several grandchildren.
“Faye is a cancer survivor and continues to foster hope to others
facing cancer through her volunteer service in the Cancer Care Center,”
says Director of Volunteer Services Kristin Doll. “She is also very
passionate about and dedicated to the success of Brunswick Campus Auxiliary
Gift where she assists with the purchasing and receiving of new merchandise.”
