BRUNSWICK, Georgia: April 7, 2010 – Southeast Georgia Health System
is pleased to welcome three new members to the leadership team: Pamela
Gass, R.N., ATC, director, Orthopaedic & Spine Center; Sherry Sweek,
RHIA, CPHQ, CPMSM, director, Quality Improvement; and Mary Jo Casey, R.N.,
nurse recruiter.
Gass received her Bachelor’s degree in science from West Chester
University of Pennsylvania and her registered nurse diploma from Geisinger
Medical Center in Danville, Pa. She has almost 20 years of experience
as a nurse, clinical athletic trainer, and health care manager and director.
Gass was most recently the administrative director of orthopaedics at
Susquehanna Health in Williamsport, Pa. She is a member of the American
College of Healthcare Executives, the national Athletic Trainer’s
Association, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Gass
is an active volunteer with such organizations such as the American Cancer
Society and the United Way. She has also served on the Board of Trustees
of the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Lycoming,
and on the physical fitness specialist advisory committee for the Pennsylvania
College of Technology. In her spare time, Gass enjoys travel, entertaining,
cycling, skiing, and sailing.
Sweek comes to the Health System from Memorial Health in Savannah, where
she was employed for the past 10 years, the last three as director of
Quality Management. Prior to Memorial, Sweek served as a performance improvement
coordinator at Clarian Health Partners in Indianapolis, Ind. Sweek earned
her Bachelor’s degree in economics from Indiana University and holds
certifications from the National Association Medical Staff Services, the
American Health Information Management Association, and the National Association
for Healthcare Quality. She is a member of the National Association Medical
Staff Services, the National Association for Healthcare Quality, the Georgia
Health Information Management Association, and the American Health Information
Management Association. Additionally, Sweek has made numerous presentations
at conferences, including the North Carolina Quality & Patient Safety
Conference and the Healthcare Performance Improvement 2009 Safety Summit.
Casey completed her Bachelor’s degree in nursing at Florida Atlantic
University and her Master’s degree in management from Cardinal Stritch
University in Milwaukee, Wis. Prior to entering the nursing field, she
earned a double major Bachelor’s degree in political science and
Spanish (business emphasis) from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Casey has years of nursing experience in Florida, Texas, and Wisconsin.
She was most recently employed with Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield,
Wis., where she worked since 2004. Casey is a past member of the Wisconsin
Organization of Nursing Executives, the Mid-state Technical College Nursing
Program Advisory Board, and the Mid-State Technical College Health Unit
Coordinator Program Advisory Board. She is also active in community services
including serving as a parent volunteer for Marshfield Area Catholic School
Special Events and supporting the “Kids in Distress Charity”
in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Casey has relocated to the Golden Isles with
her husband Tim and their sons Michael and Dillon.
