BRUNSWICK, Georgia: Jan. 1, 2010 – Jason and Connie Wood of Brunswick
welcome the newest addition to their family, Abigail Grace. She arrived
on New Year’s Day at 8:32 a.m. in the Southeast Georgia Health System’s
Miriam & Hugh Nunnally Maternity Care Center in Brunswick as Glynn
County’s first baby of 2010. She was delivered by Matthew Johnston,
MD, and weighed in at 4 lbs., 15 oz., and measured 18 inches long. She
is the couple’s second child and joins big sister Asheleigh, who
is nine years old. “Abigail was a wonderful New Year’s Day
surprise because she wasn’t due until January 18,” said Connie Wood.
Each year, more than 1,500 babies are born at the Miriam & Hugh Nunnally
Maternity Care Center. To further expand services and meet the needs of
these little ones and their families, the Center is currently undergoing
major renovation and expansion. The entire project is set for completion
by the end of August 2010. When finished, the Center will have 6,550 feet
of additional space and feature 24 redesigned labor, delivery, recovery,
and postpartum rooms (LDRPs) with the latest technologies that will allow
mothers and their babies to remain in the same hospital room throughout
their stay.
To welcome little Abigail, the Health System presented the happy parents
with a large gift basket full of goodies and baby care necessities from
the Brunswick Campus Gift Shop. Pictured from left are: Gail Hanson, RN,
