BRUNSWICK, Georgia: Oct. 30, 2009—Southeast Georgia Health System
is pleased to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Gunn, RN, MSN as the
new Vice President of Patient Care Services.
Gunn joined the Health System in 2005 as assistant administrator for Patient
Care Services at the Camden Campus. Most recently, Gunn served as the
director of Quality Improvement for the Health System before accepting
the position of interim vice president of Patient Care Services in July 2009.
She has more than 26 years of health care experience with increasing leadership
responsibilities including positions as the director of the Emergency
Department and Emergency Psychiatric Clinical Decision Unit at Florida
Hospital, Orlando, and the director of the Emergency Department &
Endoscopy Diagnostic Unit at South Fulton Medical Center in East Point,
Georgia. Gunn earned an Associates degree in nursing from Wake County
Technical College in Raleigh, North Carolina, before going on to complete
a Bachelors degree in nursing and a Masters degree in nursing administration,
both from the University of Texas at El Paso. She is a member of the Emergency
Nurses Association, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses,
and Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society for Nurses.

As vice president, Gunn’s areas of responsibility are comprised of
the nursing practice for the entire Health System, which consists of medical/surgical
patient care and intensive care units, the coronary care and progressive
coronary care unit, post-anesthesia care units, the behavioral health
unit, inpatient and outpatient surgery services, telemetry, pediatrics,
dialysis, inpatient wound care, and diabetes education. Her areas also
include the Emergency Care Centers, Outpatient Surgery Services, the Bariatric
Care Center, the Heartburn Care Center, Pharmacy services and Women's/Children's
Services which also includes the Miriam & Hugh Nunnally Maternity
Care Center.
She and her husband, James, live in St. Marys and are the parents of two
children, Daniel and Sarah, and one grandchild, Elissa.
