BRUNSWICK, Georgia: Feb. 2, 2010– According to the American Heart
Association, cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of Americans,
claiming the lives of over 36 percent of the more than 2.4 million people
who die each year in the United States. To combat this disease, it is
important to get regular heart health screenings. That is why this February,
during American Heart Month, Southeast Georgia Health System is offering
low-cost heart health screenings.
Heart Health Day screenings are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 11, from 7
a.m.-2 p.m. in the Linda S. Pinson Conference Center at the Health System’s
Brunswick Campus, 2415 Parkwood Drive, Brunswick, and in Suite 130 of
the Medical Pavilion at the Health System’s Camden Campus, 2040
Dan Proctor Drive, St. Marys.
The screenings at both locations include:
- Lipid profile (12 hour fasting necessary)
- Blood glucose testing
- Electrocardiogram (EKG)
- Pulse oximetry (a test for oxygen in the blood)
- Height and weight
- Blood pressure
Additional educational information about heart disease, diabetes, and sleep
disorders will also be available. A board certified physician will interpret
all results, which will be mailed to each participant. The cost is $35
per person and cash or checks will be accepted. Gift cards for Heart Health
Day screenings are also available for purchase in our Brunswick and Camden
campus gift shops. All proceeds will benefit the Health System’s
Team Member Catastrophic Fund.
