BRUNSWICK, Georgia: Sept. 29, 2009 – October is Breast Cancer Awareness
Month and Southeast Georgia Health System will present three free seminars
on the subject as part of its on-going community lecture series. The first
seminar will be “Breast Cancer Awareness,” on Thursday, Oct.
8, at 6 p.m. in the Linda S. Pinson Conference Center on the Brunswick
Campus, 2415 Parkwood Drive .
Hematologist/oncologist Duane P. Moores, MD, will be the featured speaker.
He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American
Society of Hematology and is board certified in oncology. Moores is in
private practice at Southeast Georgia Hematology/Oncology Associates,
PC, and serves on the medical staffs of the Health System’s Brunswick
and Camden campuses. Moores is also on the medical board of the Health
System’s new Breast Care Center located on the Brunswick Campus.
He is the past chairman of the oncology committee for the Health System
and formerly served as the medical director of Hospice of the Golden Isles
in Brunswick.
The next breast cancer seminar will be “Treatment Options for Breast
Cancer,” which will be presented at the Health System’s Camden
Campus, 2000 Dan Proctor Drive, St. Marys, on Thursday, Oct. 15, 6 p.m.,
with board certified radiation oncologist Kenyon Meadows, MD. The final
breast cancer seminar for October will be “Breast Cancer Reconstruction
Surgery,” which will be held in the Linda S. Pinson Conference Center
on the Brunswick Campus, Thursday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m., with board certified
plastic surgeon Diane Bowen.
