BRUNSWICK, Georgia: Oct. 12, 2009 – At any given time almost six
million Americans suffer from problem wounds. These wounds can be caused
by everything from complications from diabetes, to pressure sores, to
radiation tissue damage, to crush wounds. To inform the public about the
latest treatment options available for those suffering from problem wounds
and other skin problems, Southeast Georgia Health System is offering the
free seminar “Advances in Skin and Wound Care.” This presentation
will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, at 6 p.m. in the Linda S. Pinson Conference
Center on the Brunswick Campus, 2415 Parkwood Drive. Board certified general
surgeon T. Wayne Rentz Jr., MD, and board certified plastic surgeon Paula
Legere, MD, will be the featured speakers.
Rentz and Legere both serve on the medical staff of the Brunswick Campus
as well as the Health System’s Wound Care Center, where they are
both certified hyperbaric chamber physicians. Rentz is a veteran of the
United States Navy and a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia. He
completed his surgical residency at the Naval Regional Medical Center,
Portsmouth, VA. Rentz is a clinical instructor at the Emory University
Medical School for Physician Assistants, and a former chief of staff at
the Brunswick Campus.
Legere is a graduate of the University of Vermont College of Medicine,
Burlington, VT. She completed a general surgery internship and residency
and was the chief resident at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA.
Legere continued her fellowship in plastic surgery at Albany Medical Center,
Albany, NY. She received her board certification from both the American
Board of General Surgery and American Board of Plastic Surgery and is
the medical director of the Wound Care Center.
Light refreshments will be served at the seminar and following their presentation,
both physicians will answer questions from the audience.
