BRUNSWICK, Georgia: May 18, 2009 – The work of America's millions
of nurses to save lives and maintain the health of millions of individuals
was the focus of this year's National Nurses Week May 6-12, celebrated
annually throughout the United States. This year, the American Nurses
Association (ANA) selected "Nurses: Building a Healthy America"
as the theme for 2009. The ANA supports and encourages National Nurses
Week recognition programs through the state and district nurses associations,
other specialty nursing organizations, educational facilities, independent
health care companies, and institutions.
During Nurses Week, Southeast Georgia Health System honored all of its
nurses, including those at the Brunswick Campus, Senior Care Center, and
strategic affiliate locations with special pancake breakfasts and receptions
honoring all the nurses and announcing the Nurses of the Year.
Bridget Williams, RN, was named the Nurse of the Year at the Senior Care
Center reception on May 6. Williams is an MDS coordinator who interacts
with staff to coordinate the assessment and care of residents and has
six years of service with the Health System. Linda Joines, RN, was named
