BRUNSWICK, Georgia: May 6, 2009 – Members of the Southeast Georgia
Health System Camden Campus Auxiliary, Camden Ministerial Alliance, Camden
Campus Advisory Board, and the St. Marys Convalescent Center Advisory
Committee were honored with a special celebration luncheon on Friday,
April 24, during National Volunteer Week. Auxiliary members enjoyed food
and fellowship and were recognized for the many hours they volunteer at
the Health System’s Camden Campus, as well as the St. Marys Convalescent
Center. The Camden Campus Volunteens were honored at a pizza party on
Saturday, May 2, at Pizza Hut in St. Marys.
The Camden Campus Auxiliary and Volunteen Program currently have 67 active
members who serve in Outpatient Surgery, the Maternity Care Center, the
Emergency Care Center, Gift Shop, cafeteria, Human Resources, Rehabilitation
Services, St. Marys Convalescent Center, as well as the new guest services
desk. They do various things such as answer phones, file paperwork, escort
patients, keep families informed about a loved one’s surgery, and
keep supplies in order.
According to Kristin Doll, manager of Volunteer Services, the Auxiliary
volunteers provided approximately 6,000 hours of service in the past year
alone, which translates into a dollar value of $121,500. “The Auxiliary
is indispensable to our Health System and community. They always seem
to bring smiles to our patients, and are always willing to lend a hand
to a lost or concerned visitor,” Doll says. “Our team members
love the help and service they provide. Our volunteer program has grown
over the past year and we are fortunate to have such wonderful volunteers
as part of our team.”
