BRUNSWICK, Georgia: March 6, 2009 – Southeast Georgia Health System
now offers the convenience of paying hospital bills online at the Health
System’s Web site,
Billing Information.
According to Health System Executive Vice President & CFO Michael D.
Scherneck, once patients receive their first billing statements, they
can view their active accounts online. “With more and more people
paying their bills online, it just made good sense for the Health System
to offer this quick, convenient service to our patients,”
Scherneck
says. “With our new, secure service, patients can not only pay their
bills online, but they can also view their payment history, including
any insurance payments.”
Users of the new service can also view their total charges, all up-to-date
account information, and print itemized bills.
Additionally
through the new service, the Health System provides patient education
information to help patients understand and manage the billing process
through a variety of resources, including:
- On-line answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) associated with
hospital and insurance billing.
- A Medical Bill Organizer for patients to track and organize medical bills
and Explanation of Benefits (EOB's).
- Educational materials on appealing insurance denials with their insurer.
- Helpful hints on how to make informed decisions when selecting health insurance
providers.
