BRUNSWICK, Georgia: June 22, 2009 – Southeast Georgia Health System
is pleased to welcome orthopaedic surgeon Gary Mark McClain, MD. McClain
joins the St. Marys practice of Summit Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic
Surgery, a strategic affiliate of Southeast Georgia Health System. He
will practice full-time at the St. Marys location.
McClain, who is board certified in orthopaedic surgery, earned his undergraduate
degree in zoology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
and his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of
Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at the Naval Regional
Medical Center in San Diego, California. McClain previously served on
the teaching staff of Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia,
and is a former chief of staff and former vice chairman of the Board of
Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter, Florida, where he practiced medicine
since 1982.
He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member
of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. McClain is also a member
of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery,
Florida Medical Association, Florida Orthopaedic Society, Palm Beach County
Orthopaedic Society, and Palm Beach County Medical Society. His specialties
include minimally invasive total hip and knee replacements, partial knee
replacement, shoulder and knee arthroscopy, general orthopaedic surgery,
foot and ankle surgery, shoulder and elbow surgery, diseases of the bones
and joints, joint pain, and arthritis.
McClain’s start date with Summit Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic
Surgery is July 1, however, his office is now taking appointments. He
will join fellow orthopaedic physicians J. Melvin Deese Jr., MD, Michael
J. Sullivan, MD, Katherine L. Maurath, MD, Denny Carter, MD, Beau Sasser,
MD, and Buck Cavalier, MD. The practice is located at 2040 Dan Proctor
