The Bariatric Care Center at Southeast Georgia Health System will host
its third annual “Celebration of Less is More” on Saturday,
Oct. 4 featuring Emmy-Award-winner, actor, author, stand-up comic, activist,
and weight loss surgery patient Jackie Guerra as the keynote speaker.
This celebration is intended for any weight loss surgery patient and his
or her support persons regardless of where their procedure was performed
as part of the Bariatric Care Center’s commitment to offering high
quality services and programs to all bariatric surgery patients.
Daytime events will take place in the Southeast Georgia Conference Center
on the campus of the College of Coastal Georgia, 3700 Altama Ave., Brunswick,
while the evening dinner and dance will be held at the Clarion Inn, 5252
New Jesup Hwy. in Brunswick. Last year, approximately 75 Bariatric Care
Center weight loss surgery patients attended this exciting event.
Following the welcome, Jacqueline Jaques, ND, a leading specialist in bariatric
nutrition, will speak on the "ABCs of Bariatric Nutrition."
Following her lecture and a break to view vendor exhibits, Melodie Moorehead,
PhD, ABPP, will discuss "Higher Hungers: Coping with Food Loss."
After lunch, Guerra will present "Live Like You Mean It!" Following
her inspirational talk and a brief break, the annual fashion show featuring
weight loss surgery patients will be presented. The events activities
will conclude with a dinner dance from 7-11 p.m.
