Jake J. Porter III, M.D., MPH, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon at
Summit Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Surgery, earned his medical degree at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, and
completed his residency at Atlanta Medical Center, Department of Orthopaedic
Surgery in Atlanta and a fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical
Center in Pittsburgh. Prior to joining the Health System, Dr. Porter presented
his Master of Public Health (MPH) at the New England Science Symposium
at Harvard Medical School and was inducted into the Tennessee Gamma Chapter
of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor, a rare honor for a third year medical
student to receive.
When Dr. Porter isn’t researching or practicing medicine, he enjoys
watching the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldog’s games. Fascinated
by the human anatomy and how it “works like a machine,” his
research focuses primarily on foot and ankle surgery. After completing
his fellowship training, he wanted to choose a Health System with the
most advanced technology as well as a practice that kept patients’
best interest at heart. Summit Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Surgery’s
friendly environment combined with its patient-centered approach made
it a perfect match. Dr. Porter sees patients at their Brunswick and St.
Simons Island locations.
