Principal investigators from a multitude of organizations conduct research projects at Southeast Georgia Health System in multiple disciplines. These research studies evaluate new and existing medicines, technologies and technics for the screening, prevention and treatment of disease.

The Health System’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) is committed to conducting the ethical review of all activities involving human subjects and research conducted within the Health System or using Health System resources.

It is the IRB’s charge to protect the rights and welfare of individuals participating in human subjects research. In doing so, the IRB provides initial and continuing review for human subjects research projects.

CITI Training

Go to www.citiprogram.org and click on the "Register" button located in the upper right of the webpage that will open after clicking the link. The next steps are numbered 1-7. These steps will collect information to register your account and place you in the correct training course.

Step 1: In the “Select Your Organization Field”, enter “Southeast Georgia Health System, Inc.” The Health System’s name will auto populate in this field. Select “Southeast Georgia Health System, Inc.”. Review CITI’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. If you agree to these terms, click the box next to “I AGREE” and click the box next to “I affirm that I am an affiliate of Southeast Georgia Health System, Inc.” Click “Create a CITI Program Account”. Click “Continue to Step 2”.

Step 2: Enter your first and last name and enter and verify your email address. Please enter your name here as you would like it to appear on your completion report received at the end of the course. Ensure you use your Southeast Georgia Health System email address if you have one. Click “Continue to Step 3”.

Step 3: Choose a username, password, security question, and security answer for your account Please follow the on instructions for the requirements of each field. Passwords are case sensitive. Click “Continue to Step 4”.

Step 4: Enter your Country of Residence and answer the contact question. Click “Continue to Step 5”.

Step 5: Answer the questions regarding continuing education credits. Click “Continue to Step 6”.

Step 6: Enter the demographic information. Click “Continue to Step 7”.

Step 7: Answer “Not at this time” to all questions EXCEPT the question titled “Human Subjects Research (HSR)”. Choose the group that best corresponds to your training need. For most research staff, this will be “Group 1: Biomedical Researchers”. Click “Complete Registration”.

Step 8: Click “Finalize Registration”.
