Addressing the Nursing Shortage
Healthy Partners, Spring 2022
Similar to other states throughout the U.S., Georgia has a shortage of
nurses, and while the shortage existed prior to COVID-19, the pandemic
certainly intensified the strain on health care organizations. Knowing
that an investment in nursing programs is an investmentin the health of
the community, in March 2022 Southeast Georgia Health System committed
to a $2 million expansion partnership with the College of Coastal Georgia
(CCGA) to increase the number of registered nurses in the community through
a five-year process.
