Barbara Ann Ross

Breast Cancer Patient Testimonial

Barbara Ann Ross, a 49-year old Brunswick resident, has some advice for those who are facing cancer. "You've got to fight it with everything you've got and take everything that is available to you," she says. That is exactly what Barbara did when a mammogram revealed a lump in her left breast that tested positive for cancer in June 2012.

Barbara Ann had a partial mastectomy performed by T. Wayne Rentz Jr., M.D., Southeast Georgia Physician Associates-Brunswick General Surgery. She then went through six months of chemotherapy treatments at the Southeast Georgia Health System Cancer Care Center on the Brunswick Campus under the direction of Duane Moores, M.D., Southeast Georgia Physician Associates-Hematology & Oncology.

"I loved Dr. Moores. He was very attentive and very patient. Sometimes I knew that I was keeping him too long. I knew he had other patients to see, but he would still take the time to listen to me anyway," she says. "He was so kind and he always stressed to me that I should let him know if there was anything I wasn't comfortable with."

After her Chemotherapy treatments, Barbara Ann had a short break before starting radiation therapy at the Cancer Care Center under the direction of Kenyon Meadows, M.D., Southeast Georgia Physician Associates-Radiation Oncology. In May 2013, she completed radiation therapy. In July 2013, she was able to have the port removed that had been inserted for chemotherapy.

Barbara Ann was very pleased with the staff at the Cancer Care Center. "Everybody there has a different personality, but they were all very nice and very supportive, and I was happy with my care." She also gives these final words of advice, "Keep God first, because He is all!" (Healing Scriptures – Psalm 103:3, Isaiah 41:10, Isaiah 53: 4-5.)
