Southeast Georgia Health System Wound Care Center Recognized for Excellence in Wound Healing

Southeast Georgia Health System physicians, leaders, and clinicians gathered today to celebrate the Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Center of Excellence award, which was presented to the Southeast Georgia Health System Wound Care Center by Healogics Inc., the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. The award is named for Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., a pioneer in wound care and the former chief medical officer for Healogics.

The Wound Care Center received this award for meeting the Center of Distinction quality standards for two years in a row. The Center has achieved patient satisfaction rates over 92 percent and a healing rate of greater than or equal to 91 percent in less than 30 median days, among other quality standards.

"Our panel of specially trained physicians, nurses and hyperbaric technologists use proven best practice guidelines to obtain superior outcomes for our patients", says Eric Segerberg, M.D., general surgeon and medical director of the Center. "We are proud to provide this specialized and much needed service to our community."

The Wound Care Center is a member of the Healogics Network of over 550 centers, with access to benchmarking data and experience of treating over two million chronic wounds. The Southeast Georgia Health System Wound Care Center offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Advanced treatments include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.

"Fewer than 10 percent of the centers nationwide received this award," says Gary R. Colberg, FACHE, president & CEO, Southeast Georgia Health System. "Receiving this award speaks volumes about the quality of the care being provided to our patients."
