Speech Therapy

Speech therapy involves maximizing communication for patients who have difficulty in the areas of speaking, hearing, communication and swallowing. Many people with neurological impairments brought on by aging, Parkinson’s disease or stroke may exhibit communication and swallowing difficulties. Our speech therapists provide testing and treatment for oral motor dysfunction.

For patients with swallowing difficulties, our therapists perform modified barium swallows to help determine the level of dysfunction. A directed treatment regimen can then be established to maximize the ability of the patient.

For patients with communication disorders, we provide the latest technology, including biofeedback, to maximize patient function. Biofeedback units are devices that attach to the patient’s head or neck region by electrodes and provide immediate information about which facial muscles need to be used and which need to be relaxed.
