Mobile Health Vehicle
The Southeast Georgia Health System Wellness on Wheels (WOW) mobile health vehicle provides low-cost and free health screenings, first aid and preventative education to the community at health departments, industries and businesses, health fairs, churches and community events.
Services available on the WOW include bone density screenings, blood pressure checks, lab draws, flu shots, health education and more.
The Health System began its mobile mammography in 2006 with the custom designed WOW, a completely self-contained mobile health vehicle that only requires space in a parking lot. The WOW features the same advanced digital mammography equipment found at the Health System Breast Care Center. It is staffed by female mammography technologists specially trained to perform breast imaging, and all mobile unit mammograms are read by the same group of radiologists who review Breast Care Center mammograms. The WOW is accredited by the American College of Radiology and certified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
In 2015, the Health System’s commitment to fighting breast cancer was recognized with a generous $60,000 grant from Coastal Georgia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen. The grant helps to provide screening and diagnostic breast imaging services for uninsured and underserved patients.
Digital mammograms are provided at specific events. Please note that all mammograms require a physician’s order; insurance is accepted and financial assistance is available to patients who qualify.
If you would like to schedule the WOW mobile health vehicle for your not-for-profit event or to provide screenings to employees at your place of business, please call the Southeast Georgia Health System Health Promotion and Wellness department at 912-466-5160.
