Senior Care Centers Celebrate Olympic Games
Residents of the Southeast Georgia Health System Senior Care Centers hailed the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi with their own version of the Olympic Games on Friday, Feb. 7.
Assembled into groups representing the teams of different countries, residents from Senior Care Center-St. Marys joined residents at Senior Care Center-Brunswick for the day-long "Senior Olympics." The event began with a torch run through the facility, followed by an opening ceremony, games and lunch, and culminated with a closing ceremony and medal distribution. Games included the popular balloon volleyball, rifle target shooting (using a toy rifle), wheelchair races, shuffle board, and hockey goal shooting.
The games and team competition were designed to challenge the residents to be physically active and socially engaged.
