“Oh My Aching Back” Topic of Upcoming Free Lecture
BRUNSWICK, Georgia: Feb. 6, 2008 – According to the National Institutes of Health, back pain affects eight out of 10 people at some point during their lives. Southeast Georgia Health System invites you to learn more about this common health problem by attending the lecture “Oh My Aching Back!” This presentation, part of the Health System’s ongoing series of free community lectures, is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. in the Linda S. Pinson Conference Center on the Brunswick Campus, 2415 Parkwood Drive.
The speaker for this event is pain management specialist Thomas Runyan, MD. Runyan is board certified in anesthesiology and pain management and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He is a former instructor of anesthesia at New York University Medical Center and the former associate director of obstetrical anesthesia at University Hospital, The Ohio State University. Runyan has been in the field of pain medicine since 1989, and has additional training through the American Society of Disability Evaluating Physicians (ADEP). During the lecture, he will discuss common causes, ways to avoid, and treatment options for various types of back pain. Runyan will also answer questions from the audience and light refreshments will be served.
