Healthy Aging Topic of Upcoming Free Lecture
BRUNSWICK, Georgia: Jan. 15, 2008 – According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one in every five Americans will be age 65 or older by the year 2030. To discuss health concerns of our aging population Southeast Georgia Health System will present “Healthy Aging” as part of the Health System’s ongoing series of free community lectures. This presentation is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m., in the Linda S. Pinson Conference Center on the Health System’s Brunswick Campus, 2415 Parkwood Drive, Brunswick. The speaker for the event is board certified family medicine physician John Blumer, MD.
Blumer, a native of Louisville, Georgia, completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Georgia, before going on to receive his medical degree from the Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon. After completing his residency in Charleston, SC, at Trident Family Medicine, Blumer returned to his hometown to practice at Jefferson Hospital before accepting the offer to join Glynn Family Medicine Center in July 2008.
Blumer will discuss what preventative measures you can take to practice a healthy lifestyle in order to stay well as you age and what regular screenings are necessary for achieving optimal health. Following his lecture, Blumer will take questions from the audience and light refreshments will be served.
