Health System Team Members Make Donations To Karen’s House of Hope

BRUNSWICK, Georgia: Jan. 25, 2012 – Team members at the Southeast Georgia Health System Cancer Care Center-Brunswick made the recent holidays a little brighter for cancer patients and their loved ones by donating much needed household items and money to Karen’s House of Hope. The facility, located near the Health System’s Brunswick Campus, was opened in 2008 as part of FaithWorks Ministries to provide out-of-town cancer patients and their families a comfortable place to stay while they are undergoing treatment. In addition to kitchen, bedrooms and living area, the facility also has a butterfly garden and separate meditation building—all made possible by donations from organizations and individuals from around the community. Additionally, Karen’s House of Hope serves as a meeting space and cancer resource center for the local community and provides prayer shawls, caps and other items for cancer patients in order to make their treatments less stressful. The Health System Foundation also lent a hand during the holiday season by placing requests for needed items on their Angel Tree.
