Health System Offers Low-Cost Heart Health Screenings Feb. 15
February is a month when we celebrate Valentine’s Day, as well as Heart Health Month. This year, give yourself or someone you love a true gift from the heart—heart health screenings. On Friday, Feb. 15, Southeast Georgia Health System will offer low-cost heart health screenings from 7 a.m.-12 p.m. on the Brunswick and Camden campuses.
According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of Americans, claiming the lives of more than 36 percent of the more than 2.4 million people who die each year in the United States. To combat this disease, it is important to get regular heart health screenings. The Heart Health Fair will include the following health screenings:
- Lipid Profile (12-hour fasting is necessary)
- Blood Glucose Testing
- Electrocardiogram (EKG)
- Pulse Oximetry (a test for oxygen in the blood)
- Height and Weight
- Blood Pressure
- Brunswick Campus, Linda S. Pinson Conference Center, 2415 Parkwood Drive, Brunswick
- Camden Campus, 2nd Floor, 2000 Dan Proctor Drive, St. Marys
Additional educational information about heart disease, tobacco cessation, diabetes, and sleep disorders will also be available. A board certified physician will interpret all EKG results. Each participant will receive all of his or her results in the mail. The cost is $25 per person and cash, credit cards or checks will be accepted. Gift cards for Heart Health Day screenings are available for purchase in the Health System’s Brunswick and Camden campus gift shops.
Appointments are required and times are limited at both locations. To reserve your time at either location, call 1-800-537-5142, ext. 7888. For more information about the Health System’s services, visit www.sghs.com.
