Health System Names New Vice President

Southeast Georgia Health System has announced the promotion of Christy D. Jordan, R.N., J.D., to vice president, General Counsel/Government Relations.

Jordan joined the Health System in early 2012 as staff attorney; her title and responsibilities changed to assistant general counsel and director, Risk Management, in August 2012.

In her new role as vice president, Jordan will provide legal services to Health System management and its Boards, and oversee the Legal, Compliance, Risk Management, Quality and Service Excellence departments.

"Christy is a well-respected member of our Health System team and we are happy to have her accept this role," says Gary R. Colberg, FACHE, president & CEO. "Christy is a dedicated professional with years of experience that make her the perfect fit for this position and I look forward to working with her for years to come."

Prior to joining the Health System, Jordan was in private practice for eight years with nationally recognized health law practices, most recently with Arnall, Golden Gregory LLP in Atlanta. Earlier this summer, she was one of eight lawyers nationwide to be selected to participate in the 2014-2015 Leadership Development Program for the Hospital and Health Systems Practice Group of the American Health Lawyers Association. She is also a registered nurse, a background that gives her a unique perspective and understanding of health care legal issues.

Jordan graduated summa cum laude from the Medical College of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and earned her law degree magna cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law. She is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Georgia Academy of Healthcare Attorneys, the American Health Lawyers Association, and is participating in the American Health Lawyers Association’s Leadership Development Program for its Hospitals and Health Systems Practice Group. She currently serves as secretary of the Hospice of the Golden Isles Board of Directors and is a frequent speaker to community and legal groups on health care legal issues.

Jordan and her husband, Chris, have two children, Julia and David.
