Health System Names Latest Stars of the Quarter

BRUNSWICK, Georgia: June 14, 2010– Southeast Georgia Health System is pleased to announce that team members Heidi Shedd, department support coordinator at Brantley Family Medicine Center, and Kim Simmons, an environmental services technician at the Health System’s Camden Campus and Senior Care Center-St. Marys have been named the latest Health System Stars of the Quarter. Each quarter, team members may nominate a fellow team member that he or she feels goes above and beyond expectations in meeting the Health System’s Service Excellence standards.

Shedd was nominated for her outstanding work with the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life in Brantley County. “Heidi is an integral part of our team and serves as a role model for us all,” says Cassie Bernard, practice manager, Brantley Family Medicine Center. “She was not only recognized by fellow team members, but others involved in the Relay contacted us to praise her leadership and volunteerism as a key reason the Relay was such a success.” Shedd, who has served as the team captain for the Brantley Family Medicine Center Relay team for the past three years, led the team in hosting the annual Survivors Dinner and served as the guest speaker to kick off the Brantley County Relay.

Simmons was nominated by fellow team members at both the Camden Campus and the Senior Care Center-St. Marys. Simmons spends most of her time at the Camden Campus, but was asked to help at the Senior Care Center, where she quickly became a favorite of the residents and fellow team members. This came as no surprise to her coworkers at the Camden Campus, who had also nominated her because of her dedication to her job and constant positive attitude. “Kim goes beyond expectations wherever she is asked to work,” says Tom Scott, manager, Environmental Services. “To have two different facilities nominate the same team member shows what a star Kim is in the Health System.”
