Health System Celebrating National Doctor’s Day, Honoring Physicians With Charitable Donation

BRUNSWICK, Georgia: March 29, 2011 – In recognition of National Doctor’s Day, March 30, Southeast Georgia Health System will recognize the more than 303 physicians who have privileges at the not-for-profit organization’s multiple facilities in Glynn, Camden, Brantley, and McIntosh counties, and who dedicate their time to taking care of our communities. This year’s national theme is “Dedicated to Excellence.”

“Each year we take the time to recognize our physicians. Their dedication to our patients has played a major role in the Health System becoming a leader in providing compassionate, quality care. Their professionalism and caring is at the very heart of what is important to our patients and their families,” says Gary R. Colberg, FACHE, Health System President & CEO. “We are proud of what they do every day as they work with our team of highly trained staff and medical professionals.”

In honor of the dedicated physicians, the Health System is making a $5,000 donation on their behalf to FaithWorks, a non-profit organization. This local charity offers professional and volunteer assistance by providing pastoral care and counselling, food, and financial assistance to families in crisis. The majority of the money raised by FaithWorks is distributed locally and helps fund such initiatives as Karen’s House of Hope, a home-away-from-home for cancer patients and family members who are undergoing treatment at the Health System’s Cancer Care Center, and Homeless Transition, a home for homeless patients that are discharged from the Health System’s Brunswick hospital.

The physicians will also be honored with Doctor’s Day Luncheons at both the Brunswick and Camden Campuses. To find a physician who is on the medical staff at one of the Health System’s hospitals or facilities, visit and click on “Find A Physician.”
