Health System Announces Recent Team Member Promotions/New Responsibilities
BRUNSWICK, Georgia: June 16, 2010 – Southeast Georgia Health System is pleased to announce the promotion of Mindy Tolle to director of Physician Services and Sharon Zawislak to manager of Human Resources—Camden Campus. Also, two team members have assumed new or additional responsibilities. Adam Brown has been transferred from the Service Excellence Department to Physician Practices as manager, while Ginger Wallen’s responsibilities as manager within the Finance Department have been expanded to encompass the overall budgeting, payroll and accounts payable functions.
In his new role, Brown oversees Southeast Georgia Physician Associates-Glynn General & Vascular Surgery, Camden General Surgery, Thoracic Surgery and the Ear, Nose and Throat practice that will open in August. He has been with the Health System since 2005 when he served as an administrative resident while completing his Master’s degree in health administration (MHA) from Georgia State University. Upon completing his residency, he accepted the position of coordinator of service excellence until being promoted to manager of service excellence in 2008, the position he held until his most recent promotion. In addition to his MHA, the Decatur, Ala. native has a Master’s in business administration from Georgia State University and a Bachelor’s degree in health administration from Auburn University. He is a member of the America College of Healthcare Executives and a recipient of the Ralph J. Knobel Scholarship at the Institute of Health Administration. Prior to joining the Health System, Brown’s experience included positions at orthopaedic clinics in both Decatur and Opelika, Ala., as well as an internship with Baptist Princeton, a 499-bed hospital in Birmingham, Ala. Brown and his wife, Elaine, and their son, Connor, reside in Brunswick.
In her role as director, Tolle serves as a liaison between Health System President & CEO Gary R. Colberg, FACHE and all of the physicians in the Health System and travels to physician’s offices in Glynn, Camden, Brantley, McIntosh and other counties. Recruiting new physicians to the Health System is also a part of her department’s responsibilities and involves traveling to recruitment events throughout the southern United States. Tolle has been a member of the Health System since 1985 where she worked as an intensive care nurse in the Coronary Care Unit and Progressive Coronary Care Unit. She later became a house manager (nursing supervisor) for five years before transitioning to the Physician Services Department. Tolle graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in English from Jacksonville University, went on to earn an Associate’s degree in nursing from what was then Brunswick Junior College (cum laude), and then graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Armstrong Atlantic State University. Tolle and her husband, local builder Tom Tolle, live on St. Simons Island and have four children, Ryan, Ashley, Alexander and Austin.
In her new position, Wallen’s additional responsibilities include the oversight of all the general accounting staff, coordination of information reporting to internal and external agencies and policy and procedures revision. She also oversees the budgeting process for all the Health System’s locations. Wallen graduated with an Associates degree from the former Brunswick College, before going on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Georgia Southern University. Before joining the Health System as a staff accountant in 2003, Wallen worked in the financial and accounting fields at First American Health Care and SeaPack Federal Credit Union, both in Brunswick, as well as Newport Timber in Riceboro, Georgia-Pacific in Brunswick, and Tamary’s Fine Apparel for Women on St. Simons Island. The Glynn County native is currently enrolled in the MBA program with Brenau University in Healthcare Management. The Glynn County native and her husband David live in Brunswick with their two children, Jeffrey and Sarah.
Zawislak first joined the Health System in 2007 as a human resources generalist for the Camden Campus. In her new position she manages the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department at the Health System’s Camden Campus and Senior Care Center-St. Marys, including coordinating all team member activities at both locations, assisting team members with benefits and assisting with recruitment and retention. Prior to joining the Health System, she worked in the Human Resources Department at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup for eight years. Zawislak, a native of Jesup, completed her Bachelor’s degree in business administration from American Intercontinental University in Atlanta and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree through Penn State. She is married to Jeff Zawislak and has two children, Colby and Alexis.
