Minimally Invasive. Rapid Recovery.
Although the name, “CyberKnife,” may imply the use of scalpels, this revolutionary robotic cancer treatment does not involve cutting. Instead, CyberKnife delivers beams of high dose radiation to tumors with extreme accuracy – targeting cancer cells while simultaneously preserving surrounding healthy tissue. This advanced surgical technique is administered by a radiation oncologist, is pain-free, non-surgical and the perfect option for many patients who have inoperable or surgically complex tumors.
CyberKnife vs. Other Radiosurgery Procedures
Traditional forms of radiosurgery require rigid head frames to hold patients in place. Although radiosurgery is a wonderful, non-invasive alternative to surgery for the treatment of both cancerous and non-cancerous tumors anywhere in the body, such head frames can be uncomfortable and claustrophobic for some patients. CyberKnife, on the other hand, allows patients to breathe normally and relax comfortably during treatment without a head frame to keep them immobile.
