Breastfeeding the Gift for Life
Continuing Education Seminar
Breastfeeding: The Gift for Life continuing education seminar for nursing professionals will take place Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Miriam & Hugh Nunnally Maternity Care Center on the Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick Campus, 2415 Parkwood Drive. Community members interested in learning more about breastfeeding may also attend the event. The day will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m. and will conclude at 4:15 p.m. with evaluations. Registration for the seminar is $75.
The speaker for this year's seminar is Barbara Wilson-Clay, BSEd, IBCLC, FILCA. Barbara has been in private practice in Austin, Texas since 1987, specializing in difficult breastfeeding cases. Barbara helped found the Texas Chapter of Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies, is a member of the Texas Breastfeeding Coalition and served as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the milk bank from 2007-2010.
Barbara's research and commentaries have appeared in The Journal of Human Lactation, Current Issues in Clinical Lactation, Birth Issues, Breastfeeding Abstracts, The International Breastfeeding Journal, the ICEA Journal, and Archives of Disease in Childhood. She serves on the editorial review boards of several professional journals and is an ICLA representative to the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) where she sat on the Ethics and the Exam committees. She has been a La Leche League Leader since 1981.
