Art Gallery Hosting SCAD Graduate’s Exhibition

BRUNSWICK, Georgia: Sept. 7, 2007 – Southeast Georgia Health System is currently hosting the art exhibit “Michael Barrett’s New Work from Nature” in the Outpatient Care Center Art Gallery, 2500 Starling St., Brunswick, through, Sept. 30.

Barrett is a native of rural north Georgia who went on to earn degrees in painting and art history from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in 1993. Barrett, who has kept close ties to SCAD, is known for his stylish expressions of universal themes inspired by tradition, but contemporary in nature.

Working through Art in Motion, a leading art and design company, his original works have been licensed with premier manufactures on a variety of home décor products worldwide. Today, his images have enhanced items a variety of household and decorative items. His work is collected publicly and privately and can be found in several large retailer stores including Macy’s, Dillard’s, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and Linens-N-Things. The majority of this collection is Barrett’s contemporary interpretation of 19th century botanical and natural history illustrations.

Barrett releases new images twice a year at the Atlanta and New York International Gift and Home Furnishing markets through Art in Motion. He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia.

His current exhibit is free and open to the public Mondays-Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturdays. The works are available for sale and a portion of the proceeds benefit the Southeast Georgia Health System Foundation.
