The southbound lanes of the Sidney Lanier Bridge on Highway 17 in Brunswick
will be closed to traffic from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15,
for the Southeast Georgia Health System Bridge Run. Southbound traffic
will be re-routed using Hwy. 341. The northbound lanes across the bridge
will remain open.
More than 2,200 runners and walkers are expected to attend this year’s
Bridge Run. In addition, the Bridge Run Vendor Expo will host a wide array
of local and regional businesses offering great food, desserts, running
shoes, walking and exercise gear, custom beachwear, motorcycle and ATVs,
games and face painting, along with important information to improve and
enhance personal health and harmony.
The 2014 Southeast Georgia Health System Bridge Run and Runner’s
Expo is scheduled to take place Saturday, Feb. 15, 7-11 a.m. at the foot
of the scenic Sidney Lanier Bridge on Highway 17 in Brunswick, Ga. This
year marks the 12th year of the event. Proceeds will benefit the Health
System’s cancer care programs. The Bridge Run will begin at 8:00
a.m. with the Firefighter’s Challenge, followed by the 8:30 a.m.
runner’s start. All walkers will start across the bridge at 9 a.m.
Due to safety reasons, strollers, baby joggers, roller blades, wheelchairs,
skateboards or bicycles are NOT allowed. Runners and walkers can still
register at active.com until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12. The
cost is $30 per individual through Feb. 3; registration increases to $40
per individual Feb. 4-12. There will be NO day-of-event runner registration.
Late walker registration is available at the Bridge Run on Saturday, February
15, 7-8 a.m., at a cost of $40.
A Pre-Run Pasta Party and Runner’s Expo is scheduled for Friday,
Feb. 14, from 4-7 p.m. at the foot of the Sidney Lanier Bridge. The cost
of the party is $5 and each pre-registered runner can pick up his or her
